Accessibility Has No Borders

Accessible Web was founded on a simple, unwavering principle: every person has a right to access the web. Not a privilege. Not a favor. A right. And that right must be protected, especially for people with disabilities who have been excluded for far too long.

In the digital world, there are no stairs to climb or doorways too narrow. There are no walls. The barriers here are ones we choose to leave in place—or tear down. With the tools we have today, creating accessible digital experiences isn’t just possible, it’s faster, cheaper, and more scalable than building access in the physical world. In a digital-first society, there’s no excuse.

Borders may exist on maps, but they don’t belong on the internet. As a kid, exploring the web for the first time on my cousins’ new computer, I can still vividly remember having my mind blown by playing an online game of cribbage while chatting with my opponent in Saudi Arabia. The idea that we could now connect and chat with anyone worldwide was so crazy.   These days, I still feel that sense of awe when I see people signing up for our RAMP accessibility software from all around the globe. Developers in Canada, designers in Germany, agency founders in Australia—working to build a web that works for everyone.

We know these are difficult times. And we want to acknowledge something clearly: much of the current tension in international politics and trade is being fueled by decisions here in the United States. We don’t shy away from that reality. We share your frustration. We feel it too. But please know this—we are not aligned with the powers trying to divide and isolate. We are firmly on the side of equity, inclusion, and global cooperation. That’s where we’ve always stood, and that’s where we will stay.

Accessibility laws are being challenged. International relationships are being tested. And the people who need access most, the ones already marginalized, are the ones who will feel the impact first. We will not stand by silently.

Access to healthcare, education, information, products, services, and basic digital equity is non-negotiable. These are human rights, and we will never stop fighting to protect and expand them.  We will not scale back. We will not wait for permission to do the right thing.

To our partners and customers across Europe, Canada, and the rest of the world, we see you, we stand with you, and we’re ready to fight alongside you. Accessibility doesn’t have borders. Neither do we.
