Do all videos need audio descriptions?
Question
I'm going to add some videos to my website and I've heard that videos need audio descriptions. Is that true? Do all videos need audio descriptions?
Answer
Audio descriptions (narration added to a video’s audio track to describe important visual details that cannot be understood from the main audio track alone) are required for all pre-recorded videos in order to meet WCAG AA requirements.
For videos to conform to WCAG A standards, an audio description OR a full text equivalent is sufficient, such as a transcript.
