What are some of the expected changes coming with WCAG 3.0?

Question

What are some of the expected changes coming with WCAG 3.0?

Answer

WCAG 3.0 is still in the early stages, but the following are some anticipated changes.

  1. A more holistic way to measure and communicate how accessible web content is. This differs from the current pass/fail binary approach to evaluating accessibility, which does not allow much room for nuance.
  2. Changes to how color contrast is measured. The current measurements are very mathematical and straightforward to measure and compare. However, they do not match up to how human vision perceives color. This amendment would merge the two more seamlessly.
