FAQ

  • Web accessibility is the practice of designing and maintaining digital services, such as websites, mobile apps, and documents, so that they are usable by people with disabilities. It is important because it is mandated by landmark legislation like the European Accessibility Act (EAA), Accessible Canada Act (ACA), and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Beyond compliance, it is about fostering a truly inclusive digital society where everyone can participate equally in digital spaces.

  • The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) are internationally recognized standards. The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is the organization that develops and publishes the WCAG.

  • Nine new testing criteria are new in WCAG 2.2 leading to a total of 87 success criteria. The new criteria focus on improving accessibility for users with low vision, cognitive and learning disabilities, motor disabilities, and those using touch screens.
