How can we ensure ongoing accessibility compliance when third-party libraries are updated or changed?
Question
Answer
If a problem arises because the third-party company makes a change, you are still liable for its accessibility. To handle this change, we recommend a few strategies.
Option 1: Resolve the issue internally - Should you have the resources and team to do so, remediate the accessibility violation yourself.
Option 2: Reach out to the third party - If you deem the issue more intense, request the third-party company's updated VPAT so you can update your accessibility statement. In the update, you can explain that there was an update to the third-party content on your platform and you're navigating this change with the third party involved.
Option 3: Switch providers - If the issue is not resolved, find a different third party to work with.
