How can I use keyboard shortcuts while still meeting Accessibility Guidelines?
Question
Answer
The most important part is providing clearly defined instructions if character key shortcuts exist on a page. For example, you can include short instructions stating "Use X command to have Y action occur." Additionally, if you have clearly outlined shortcuts, there should be some agency left to the user to change them or use their own. Keep in mind that you can't require certain keyboard shortcuts since activating elements with regularly used character keys is a violation.
